Unusual Activities In London: Part 1

Unusual Activities In London – Part 1

Ever tried brunch in the UK’s capital Hip Hop style?

I’ve created this series to share my experiences of unusual activities and places to go in London that are a little out of the norm and give you additional choices of things to do in your spare time. I think life is all about experiences and pushing the boundaries from the everyday habits so we can grow, find new ways to enjoy and share time with people that ultimately makes us into more interesting and confident people.

To Live Is To Change

Here in Part 1; I’m kicking off with a review of an alternative brunch concept that will surely leave your senses craving more. Think a large venue in Clapham with cues outside, club lighting, DJ on stage, a fully stocked bar, the much-welcomed hype host on the mic and your favourite Hip Hop tunes blaring from the last 30 years! All this kicked off at 12 midday for an all-dayer indoor party providing an opening cocktail hour for full ticket holders, followed by a seated 3-course meal, lots of mingling and laughter and inflatable props to mess around with. Certainly, a great way to spend a Saturday enjoying a full 5 hours of partying and entertainment minus the next day hangover, Genius!

So, I attended with a group of friends, bumped into quite a few old faces who I hadn’t seen for years and met a lot of new people on the same fun filled wave length embracing life and not afraid of making a show of themselves. I think to really enjoy Hip Hop Brunch London you need to embrace the inner child, let go of your inhibitions and most importantly brush up on your favourite rap lyrics to take part in the Karaoke session on stage. All the songs I knew were already taken by the time we sat down to eat so I recommend you grab one of the energetic and welcoming team members and put your request in early if you want to grace the stage with your musical or not so musical ability.

For £40 early bird tickets (£45 standard) you get to:

  • Feast on a southern style menu and I can definitely say we all enjoyed the sweet potatoes & beetroot fritters with spicy onion chutney for starters and a twist on jerk chicken and rice and peas by using Mexican green rice with salsa- I mean where has this been all my life? The team even met all of my groups dietary requirements of gluten, dairy and meat free options for each course.
  • Choose from weekly Saturday & twice monthly Sunday dates then once signed up all you need to do is get your outfits ready and wait for the secret location to be revealed the Tuesday before you attend.
  • Enjoy the surprise extras like a raffle to have a temporary tattoo designed for you on stage to help you stand out from your entourage, basketball shoot out competitions, a dazzling magician and of course a branded photo wall for those all-important group selfies.

Throughout the day you will find yourself singing or rapping along to more tunes than you ever thought you knew the words of, transporting you back in time and guaranteed to bring out that feel good factor.

All in all, it was a well organised event with plenty to keep you entertained & great to dance the day away in good company. As we all know laughter is good for the soul so I will keep a look out for more exhilarating or down right hilarious events to share with you all.

Until next time, peace and love, Nadine
